Narratives from the Diaspora
The Amazigh in the diaspora are Imazighen who either migrated themselves, are descendants of migrants, or were born outside of Tamazgha.

On June 12th, 2023, I met with Tassadit Yassine in her office at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Tassadit is an Amazigh Kabyle anthropologist and the director of Awal journal, which was founded in 1985 in Paris by the Algerian anthropologist Mouloud Mammeri and the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu to explore various Amazigh issues. In our conversation, we discussed Tassadit's life as an Amazigh, along with the historical events she recalls—events that have shaped her into the Amazigh activist and scholar she is today.

Raissa Leï
Raissa Leï Oral Narrative
Raisa Leï was born in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, and she comes from a Zenata Amazigh tribe. She is an artist, dancer, and choreographer, while also pursuing a career as an engineer in computer science and applied mathematics. Raisa Leï invited me to her dance studio in Paris, June 2023. I was so inspired by her Amazigh resilience in how she fights stereotypes about Imazighen in France through creating artistic content to advocate for Amazigh peoples and their rights in the diaspora.
