This collection features a selection of artworks produced during the period of Ukraine’s current war with Russia, which began with the annexation of Crimea in 2014, and has culminated in the present conflict following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24 2022.

The selections, produced by a number of Ukrainian artists working in a variety of styles and media, document a range of aesthetic responses to the massive national trauma of the war with Russia — responses that combine stark, unflinching representations of anguish and horror at the destructive impact of the Russian aggression with arresting expressions of vitality, vigor of spirit, and vibrant sensitivity to beauty.
