This is a digital showcase of Japanese materials held at the Cotsen Children’s Library. Spanning from the Edo Period (1600-1868) to the first half of the twentieth century, Cotsen's Japanese collection contains, among other types and formats, hand-painted scrolls, woodblock prints, game boards (sugoroku), children's books and magazines, paper theater (kamishibai), playing cards (iroha karuta), magic lantern slides, and toys.
