Curatorial note:

Bill Bradley ’65 was one of four Princeton students (and thirty-two from across the nation) awarded a Rhodes scholarship in 1964 that allowed him to study politics, philosophy, and economics at Oxford University for two years. Winning the scholarship deferred his debut with the New York Knicks, where he would win two NBA championships, but burnished his academic credentials when he decided to enter politics and run for the US Senate from New Jersey in 1978. During his three terms in the Senate, he was unafraid to tackle the 1986 income tax revision, California water rights, and a range of other complex legislative issues for which his colleagues regarded him as an expert, including energy, the environment, and Soviet affairs. Bradley’s papers are the most recent addition to the Public Policy Papers related to national political leaders, including Adlai Stevenson, George McGovern, and Woodrow Wilson.
