- Joseph Smith Jr. The Pearl of Great Price: Being a Choice Selection from the Revelations, Translations, and Narrations of Joseph Smith, First Prophet, Seer, and Revelator to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Liverpool: F. D. Richards, 1851.

With funding established by J. Monroe Thorington, Class of 1915, the Library continues to build upon the strengths of its Western Americana Collection. The most noteworthy addition to the holdings relating to the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a complete copy, in original wrappers, of The Pearl of Great Price. While the collection has long held a copy of the second edition, printed in Salt Lake City in 1878, the acquisition of the 1851 Liverpool edition completes Princeton’s holdings of first printings of the LDS canon of scripture. This acquisition makes Princeton one of the few institutions where scholars can consult, along with the King James Bible (1611), first editions of the Book of Mormon (1830), Book of Commandments (1833), Doctrine and Covenants (1835), and Pearl of Great Price (1851).
