Research Guide to Zionism and Israel: Historical Primary Sources in Special Collections: This research guide provides a roadmap to the Princeton University Library's rather extensive primary source holdings related to the history of Zionism and the establishment of the State of Israel.

  • Communist Papers: Rare historic collection of Palestine Communist material, 1920's-1940's: broadsides, handbills and pamphlets (133 items).
  • League of Arab-Jewish Cooperation: Publications by the League for Jewish-Arab Rapprochement and Understanding (Palestine) and the Ihud (Union) by Judah L. Magnes, Aharon Cohen, and B. Rabinovits.
  • Hyamson Papers: Albert Montefiore Hyamson was a British civil servant, Zionist author, and historian who served from 1917-1921 in the Jewish Bureau of the United Kingdom Department of Information and from 1921-1934 in Mandate Palestine as Director of Immigration. The Albert Montefiore Hyamson Papers consist primarily of reports written by the Palestine Group in the The Royal Institute of International Affairs, correspondence regarding Palestine between Hyamnson and J. L. Magnes, and a small amount of clippings.
  • Loewenstein Papers: Meir David Loewenstein was signatory to Israel's Declaration of Independence who served on a number of early Israeli government bodies, and was a minister of Israel's First Knesset (Parliament). The collection consists of official letters of the three Provisional Institutions active prior to the establishment of the State of Israel and during its first year of existence: The People's Council – Moetzet HaAm; The People's Administration – Minhelet HaAm; and The Provisional State Council – Moetzet HaMedina HaZmanit, later named The Constituent Assembly and eventually named: The First Knesset.

  • Azharah = Warning! = Dīrū bil-kum: Broadside, presenting text in two columns, where the right side is headed with the Irgun symbol and motto [a gun superimposed over Palestine, with the saying "Only this way"] and is in Hebrew. On the left side the text is in Hebrew, Arabic and English - and states "WARNING! - 1. The Government of oppression should WITHOUT ANY DELAY evacuate children, women, civilian persons and officials from all its offices, buildings, dwelling places etc, throughout the country. - 2.The civilian population, Hebrews, Arabs and others are asked, for their own sake, from now and until this warning is recalled, from nearing Government offices, etc. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!". Date added in manuscript: 2 Siṿan 705 = 14 May 1945.
  • Second World War British RAF / Special Forces 'Blood Chit': Broadside issued to members of the British military for use when lost or separated from their units. It offers a reward for helping the soldier return to us unit. Also provides useful words and phrases in Hebrew, Yiddish, German and Arabic with transliterations for Hebrew, Yiddish, and Arabic.
  • Revisionism, A Destructive Force: Pamphlet outlining the Labor Zionist arguments against Revisionist Zionism, published by the Emergency Committee for Zionist Affairs, and edited by the Labor Zionist writer Marie Syrkin
