The Shaka Hassō monogatari illustrates eight events in the life of the Buddha. Because of its simple sentences and illustrations, it was very popular and reprinted many times. Princeton recently also obtained a woodblock of this title, and it was found to be a printing block for this very same edition. Both items were acquired for a history course given by Professor Brian Steininger.
