- Giovanni Ottaviani (ca. 1735–1808), after frescoes designed by Raphael (1483–1520). Loggie di Rafaele nel Vaticano. [Rome: publisher not identified, 1772–1777]. Seconda parte. Engraved by G. Ottaviani and G. Volpato, with gouache hand coloring.
- Curatorial note:
-
This volume is the second of a three-volume set under the direction of Ottaviani, reproducing Raphael’s designs for the corridors in the Apostolic Palace at the Vatican. Each of the thirteen prints is hand colored with gouache paint, making each copy of the book unique. The Seconda parte concentrates on the quadrants above the windows and doors in the Logge, with decorations from various tapestries inserted where the original frescoes were too damaged to be legible. Raphael’s work took place between 1518 and 1519, while this volume of prints was accomplished more than two hundred years later, between 1774 and 1776.
