Abstract:

• Photograph album (7" x 11"), containing 85 black/white photographs (3.25" x 5.5" and 3.5" x 3.5") and photographic postcards taken from September-October 1909, depicting cowboy life and work at the Bell Ranch (near Tucumcari, New Mexico). Included are photographs of ranch buildings and cowboys (branding, de-horning, herding cattle, riding horses, setting up the chuck wagon). Many show various polo match activities. The front pastedown bears the business card of "G. W. Von Schriltz, Tucumcari, New Mexico, Wells Fargo & Co. Express, Agent," one of the polo players identified in a ranch polo match and possibly responsible for the photographs.
