Abstract:

• Consists of 13 original gelatin silver prints taken by Frank Bennett Fiske of Indians of the Dakota Territory. The photographs were originally housed in a binder which was assembled by Fiske and Marion Jordan Piper, with accompanying typed identifications, biography and comments on the images. It was meant to be a prototype for a bound album representative of Fiske's work, and was to be offered for sale. The portrait of a Sioux mother and child has an imprint at the bottom which reads: Fiske Photo, Fort Yates, N.D. Also included is a brief biography of Fiske, and newspaper clippings of him and his wife.
