- Garrett MS. 115 was written in France, perhaps in Aquitaine and possibly Limoges, because the manuscript includes near-contemporary additions in the hand of Adémar of Chabannes (fols. 57v-58r), which were most likely made between 1028 and his departure for the Holy Land in 1033. The earliest recorded owner of the manuscript is Jean-Paul Bignon (1662-1743), abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Quentin-en-l'Île (Aisne, Picardy) and a member of the Académie Française. Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript from the New York antiquarian bookseller Wilfrid M. Voynich (1865-1930). Garrett's gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.
