- Germany, 12th century and later. Pigskin (hair-side out) over beech boards (12-13 mm thick); sewn on 2 heavy leather cords, whose board lacings are held in place by wooden pegs visible front and back.

- Garrett MS. 37 was written in southwestern Germany or the Rhineland in the late 11th or 12th century. Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript from Quaritch on 27 September 1900. His engraved bookplate is on the inside front cover. Garrett placed the manuscript on deposit (no. 1449) at the Princeton University Library and donated it to the Library in 1942.
