- Garrett MS. 156 was produced in Venice in the second half of the 14th century. The erased heraldic shield on fol. 1r was described by de Ricci in 1935 as possibly being for the Baldovino family of Venice (de gules aigle d'or). Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897, purchased the manuscript on 12 November 1924 from the New York bookseller Ernest Dressel North. Garrett noted the Arnold sale and lot number in pencil on fol. ii recto. Garrett's bookplate is on the inside front cover. His gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.
