- Zeisberger was a Moravian missionary who worked among the Indians for sixty-two years, from 1745 until his death in 1808. He lived with the Delawares in Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley and followed them as they were pushed westward through the wilds of Pennsylvania to the Ohio Country. Published on the eve of the Revolution, when Zeisberger and the Moravian Indians were persecuted by patriots who assumed that the Indians were allies of the British. The Muskingum River, mentioned on the title, is in the Ohio Country.
