Binding note:
France, late 16th or early 17th century. Sewn on four cords laced into a limp-parchment wrapper, with the remains of two leather ties at the fore-edge.
Provenance:
Intermediate provenance is unknown. Sold through Sotheby's, London by Abbé Luigi Celotti in 1895. It was purchased by Thomas Thorpe, who sold it later to Sir Thomas Phillips. His grandson Thomas Fitzroy Fenwick's signature is present in the MS. It was sold from the Phillipps collection at Sotheby's, London to Bernard Quaritch, who sold it to Junius Spencer Morgan. His gift to the Princeton University Library, where it was accessioned in July 1899 as no. 118262.
