The Arabic press established by Athanasius III Dabbās at Aleppo was continued by his assistant, ʿAbdallāh Zākhir (d. 1748), who published this edition of 1721 concerning the Christian Sacraments, the Trinity, and the Incarnation. ʿAbdallāh Zākhir left Aleppo during the following year (1722) to set up his own press in Shuwayr in Lebanon, the second Arabic printing press in the Islamic world. Thus, this book sheds light on Zākhir’s development as a printer in Aleppo, prior to his independent printing days.
