  • Manuscript & typescript lecture notes for 12 seminar sessions by Jacques Derrida, including corrections, annotations, photocopied source material.
  • Only the first 7 sessions were given at the UCI in 1989-1990 (under the title "Rhetorics of Cannibalism"); the other 5 were given in extended form a year later. The Cornell and UCI versions are the same as the version given at the EHESS. The Cornell version may have been used for a conference. Derrida may have also taught at the City University of New York.
  • Sessions 9 through 12 are extended from the original version, given 1989-1990, to complete the course taught at UCI.
  • These seminar materials form part of the Jacques Derrida papers, physically held by Special Collections and Archives, The UC Irvine Libraries. Princeton University Library holds the exclusive rights to display the digital surrogates online.
