Description:
  • Serialized stories (part mimeographed), original artwork, acrostics, riddles, contributed by junior high school-aged boys and some girls, Cf. Banshee and Medusa. Not all of the contributors are in the same location as Rufus (apparently the guiding force behind the endeavor) chides one of the contributors in the volume for 1885 for having sent a story on the wrong size paper which had to be recopied.
  • Vols. II & III "The Fags' Rebellion in Hychester School".
  • Vol. III "Ode to the 'Grand Old Man'" has refrain "Parnell and Gladstone a muddle between. / Let's all join in the cry 'God Save the Queen'.".
  • Vol. IV contains the Jubilee Number with a frontispiece incorporating a portrait of Victoria, the Union Jack, and Crown, also original watercolor of the Garter seal and a pen and ink drawing of children ( a boy and girl) celebrating the Jubilee singing "God Save the Queen").
  • Vol. V of antiquarian interest for drawings of ancient coins, watercolors of Clarence drowned in a butt of Malmsey and the Bruce and the spider.
  • Vol. VI contains a pen & ink drawing of Romulus and Remus on a walk with their foster mother, the wolf in bonnet and capelet; below How Horatius kept the bridge, in helmet and armor beside a tolls sign.
