- Abstract:

- Digital image of a document which appears to be a compilation of three different texts. The first part begins with a series of affirmations regarding the importance of paying respect to sayyids. The text then recounts the genealogy of Nāṣir-i Khusraw before turning to a discussion of Sayyid Suhrāb Valī. The text mentions that the sayyids of the village of Dasht-i Ishkanān of the Yumgān district had their sayyid status officially confirmed by the Uzbek ruler Sayyid Subḥān Qulī Khān, which was later reconfirmed Mīr Yārī Bīk. The document then states that in the year 1213 (1798-99) the sayyid status of Shāh ʻAbd al-Nabī son of Khvājah Muḥammad Ṣāliḥ and his children was confirmed by Mīr Sulṭān Shāh II, son of Amīr Muḥammad Shāh, the ruler of Badakhshan at that time. This is followed by a number of seals and names of witnesses. The second section of the text, written in a different hand, contains a series of statements in praise of the Prophet Muḥammad and the necessity of showing respect to his descendants. The third section, written in a different hand, is a statement that on Thursday, the 9th of Safar of the year 1254 (4 May 1838), the sayyid status of several individuals was verified, including that of a certain Sayyid Ibrāhīm from the lineage of Sayyid Suhrāb and the Late Khvājah Mīr Ghiyāth a-Dīn (probably referring to the renowned 18th-century Naqshbandi shaykh of Badakhshan).
