Title from colophon (fol. 167a). The title appears in the preamble as "Tuhfat al-masʼūl fī sharḥ Mukhtaṣar Muntahá al-sūl" (fol. 2a, l. 3).
Physical description: 32 lines per page. Written in medium small Maghribī script in black ink, with larger script in black or magenta ink for "qāla" "aqūl". Light cream European paper with watermark. Lower and inner margins worm eaten.
Inscriptions in pencil in Arabic script on fol. 1a, reading respectively: "Uṣūl-i fiqh 624", "---? 777".
Origin: Copy completed for himself ("li-nafsih") by Muḥammad ibn Maymūn(?) al-Wāṣilī, on Sunday 3(?) Shawwāl 841 [March 30, 1438] (colophon, fol. 167a).

Abstract:

Commentary on Mukhtaṣar al-muntahá, an abridgment by Jamāl al-Dīn ʻUthmān ibn al-Ḥājib (d. 646/1249) of his own Muntahá al-suʼāl wa-al-amal fī ʻilmay al-uṣūl wa-al-jadal, a manual of Malikī law. The commentary was completed on 10 Jumādá II 766 [March 4, 1365] (see end of text, fol. 167a). The text is followed on fol. 167b-168a by a commentary on the introduction of the Muntahá attributed to Ibn al-ḤBāb (fol. damaged with loss of text). Biographical note on the author on fol. 1a.
